Keep The Commandments

It is amazing, how many people look for any excuse they can to be selfish, and stop keeping the commandments.  In the third book of Nephi, in the Book of Mormon, we see shortly after the sign of the birth of the Saviour, some people tried to convince others that they no longer had to keep the commandments:

And it came to pass that Nephi went forth among the people, and also many others, baptizing unto repentance, in the which, there were a great remission of sins.  And thus the people began again to have peace in the land; and there were no contentions, save it were a few that began to preach, endeavoring to prove by the Scriptures, that it was no more expedient to observe the law of Moses.

Notice, there were no contentions, save a few people began to preach, even twist the scriptures, to prove that it was no longer necessary to keep the commandments.  So this behaviour is definitely not new.  There are always folks that find any excuse they can, to not keep the commandments.  The biggest one seems to be, they believe they should be led by the spirit, which often means they can now commit adultery, steal, lie, cheat, kill, etc., as long as their spirit tells them they can.  Well, they are being led by a spirit, but it is the spirit of the devil!

So, do not be tempted, or discouraged.  The Lord said that He did not come to destroy the law or the commandments, but to fulfill them.  And we, as His disciples, may still keep the commandments.  You do not have to worry; in heaven, people still keep the commandments.  Those who do not keep the commandments do not get into Heaven, for all must wear the wedding garment; those who do not, will be removed.  So do not be afraid, Heaven is a nice place.  In the presence of Heavenly Father, no one will hurt you, lie to you, nor lie about you, cheat you, kill you, or commit adultery against you, nor break any other commandment.  You will be safe!
