Keeping The Commandments

Some thoughts on Matthew 5:17-20

Christ did not come to break the commandments, nor to teach others that the commandments were not important, but He came to keep the commandments, showing the way back into the presence of the Father.

The Lord expressly said, that the commandments must be kept even until Heaven and Earth pass away, and that all must be kept!

Those who break even the smallest commandment, and/or teach others to break any commandment, will be called out on it.

Those who keep and teach the commandments, will be among the great ones in Heaven!

No one who twists the commandments, or justifies breaking the commandments, will enter into Heaven.

All to often, we see people in church who get discouraged, discouraged because they feel pressure to conform, to not keep the commandments too strictly, and for sure, to not let on to others that they are trying to improve themselves.  We must encourage these people.  Help them.  Let them know that they are not alone.  For there are many people who are striving to keep all the commandments, making peace with their fellow man.  I am always encouraged and motivated by those who strive to follow Heavenly Father.  Please do not give up!

May God bless you all!

  1. Very simple and yet few seek to really try and comply. Thanks for the reminder of what I should be focusing on all the time.

  2. Giving up is not an option, especially when you truly understand what it is you are giving up. The wide path always seems to be the easiest, let one little slip happen, it will be fine, is what is taught. Others are taught to be so strict, by keeping busy with the "check boxes", they don't have time to breathe. It is very important to keep the commandments, Christ came to be our Savior and our example, by studying His life and his teachings we give our mind good things to think of so the holy Spirit within us can teach and guide our thoughts to be like Christ.
Sometimes I think the simplicity of the Gospel confuses people, but it is so beautiful in it's simplicity. Let the Holy Spirit guide, He will never lead you wrong. Father wants all His children to return home, He will never give up on us! Irene

  3. What commandments? How is the population to be notified as in the days of Lehi and Jeremiah?

    1. Hello James, thank-you for your comments.
The commandments referred to are found in verses 17 and 19.
Your second question does not have a reference. Would you mind elaborating?
How is the population to be notified of what?
And what is the reference to the days of Lehi and Jeremiah?
